WOODFORDES CUP
COMPETITION RULES

 

1. Cup shall be open to eight clubs who finished in the top eight positions in the National, London and Eastern Counties Leagues in the previous season.The Junior Cup shall be open to any club affiliated to the Norfolk Union but not entitled to enter the Senior Cup.

2.Every club entering the competitions may enter one XV only.

3. Entry for the competitions for the next season must be received by the Competitions Secretary before the end of March annually.

4.The draw for the first round and any necessay second round of both competitions shall be made at the Annual General Meeting of the Union in May. The draw for each subsequent round shall be made on or after the day of the previous round at the discretion of the General Committee.The home team shall be the first team drawn and in the case of the final the home team shall be the winners of the first semi-final draw.

5. Rounds to be played on dates specified by the competition committee. Provided both clubs signify to the Competitions Secretary in writing no less than

14 days prior to the tie,these matches may be played either on the Saturday or the Sunday of that weekend.

6. All matches shall be played in accordance with the laws of Rugby Football. In the event of a draw at no time, extra time of seven minutes each way shall be played. If this does not produce a result, the team that has scored most tries shall go forward to the next round, and if these be equal then the team that has scored the most goals from tries goes forward to the next round. If a result is still not forthcoming, the team drawn away from home, whether or not they are playing away from home, shall go forward into the next round.In the Final the extra time shall be 10 minutes each way and if the scores are level after extra time the team with the most tries and if these be equal then the team with the most goals from tries is declared the winner, and if a result is still not forthcoming the team drawn away from home shall be the winner. Entry as Norfolk Senior Cup winner to any further competition shall be determined by the method stated in the first paragraph of this rule.The successful club as so determined shall hold the Cup for the first six months. Four replacements will be permitted in all rounds of the competition of which 4 players of the squad must be able to play in the front row.

7.To be eligible to play, a player must be either registered to the club for a period of 6 weeks before the match, unless the club is a non league club, in which case he must have played at least 4 games for the club, having played for the club in the competitions, shall not be eligible to play for another club in the competitions in the season.Any infringement of this rule shall result in the player and the second club he plays for being disqualified from the competition for the season.The Club shall also not be regarded as the Norfolk Senior Cup winner for the purposes of any other competition.

8. If weather conditions prevent a match being played it shall be played within 15 days of the date originally fixed. If this is not possible the matter shall be referred to the Competition Secretary. If because of weather conditions a match is abandoned with not more than 20 minutes remaining, the score at the time of abandoning shall stand as the final result. If a match is abandoned before this stage, it shall be replayed under the arrangement outlined above.

9. The team drawn at home shall be responsible for advising the Competition Secretary of the result of the match. Failure of the home team to make the report will result in a fine of £10 for the first offence and £20 thereafter during the season.

10. In the event of a dispute, objections must be received within 48 hours of the event causing the dispute.The Committee hearing the dispute shall consist of the President of the Norfolk Rugby Football Union and two officials of the Union nominated by him. A representative of each club involved may be invited to attend and be heard.The decision of this Committee regarding the dispute shall be final.

11. At the Final games a gate will be taken by the home team either by making an entry charge, taking a collection or by the sale of programmes, and the proceeds of the gate will be split equally between the participating clubs.

12.These rules may be altered or amended by the General Committee of the Union at one of its regular meetings provided the notice of the proposed amendment has been given at a previous meeting and is included in the minutes of the meeting.

WOODFORDES NORFOLK SENIOR PLATE COMPETITION

The competition shall be played between the first fifteen’s of clubs losing first or second round games of the Norfolk Junior Cup Competition. Other rules of the Norfolk Seniorand Junior Cupapply to this competition. The draw for the first round will be made on or after the day of the second round of the Norfolk Junior Cup. The draw for each of the subsequent rounds will be made on or after the day of the previous round.
